A New Technology To Treat Osteoarthritis
The Aktis Sequentially Programmed Magnetic Fields (SPMF) is claimed to be the world’s first scientifically proven, non-surgical treatment to help regenerate cartilage and restore mobility of arthritis knee and disks disease. It has also proved to be effective in the treatment of certain types of cancer.
It is a technology that produces the highly complex SPMF, which are computer-controlled and can be precisely focused on the target tissues with the help of laser guides. These are non-thermal and non-ionizing, and have no side effects. The therapy is non-invasive, painless and safe.
Osteoarthritis (OA) is the second most common rehumatological problem and, it is the most common cause of locomotor disability. OA is caused by progressive degeneration of articular cartilage. As such, the articular cartilage is very regenerative capacity, and therefore, it does not allow healing. So far, the only option for OA was Total Knee Replacement (TKR), which is a major surgery and has low patients acceptance. SPMF can restore the missing physiological stimulus, thus leading to cartilage regeneration. The other benefits of SPMF are that it is an outpatient treatment for one hour every day for 21 days, and the patient can carry on their normal activities during this treatment.
SBF Healthcare and Research Centre Private Limited was launched by Wg Cdr Dr VG Vashishta (Retd) in 2006. He is a recognized guide to many students in the state and has been the author for various scientific publications. He has also been awarded numerous fellowship from international institutes. For excellence in medicine, he was awarded the 2006 Suvarna Karnataka Rajyotsava Award by the government for his work in OA and cancer.
Dr Priya Singh (name changed), who underwent the SPMF therapy, says, “Being a doctor myself, I did not want to go for major surgery, because of pain and risk involved in it. i didn’t except too much from it. But after three months, I found out that i was walking normally. No more limping. The therapy is really effective.”
