Our Treatment Works For Those Who Have Arthritis
Tells us about your interest in cells and how your career in the Air Force helped shape it ?
I got interested in cell behavior some 40 years ago in Nagpur, when i used to tag along with my father, a cell biologist, while he conducted his research. After joining the Air Force, to serve the country, the in-sepiration and passion continued. after seeing changes in patients undergoing MRI at the institute of Aerospace Medicine, Indian Air Force, Bengaluru, a premier centre in the country for military and research activities.
After trials, I presented results of the treatment on patients suffering from arthritis and these have been published in international journals. This was done, based on the clinical trials using the American Knee Society rating and MRI(a gold standard for measurement of cartilage) with great success.
What does the treatment involve?
The treatment is done using the Aktis Soma device which produces Sequentially Programmed Magnetic Field (SPMF) Therapy for treatment of osteoarthritis, exposure to SPMF therapy sensitizes and recreates the missing physiological piezoelectric stimulus necessary for cartilage regeneration. The patient after initial evaluation is taken to therapy which lasts for an hour every day for 21 days. And for cancer, the treatment is for an hour every day for 28 days.
How many patients have you treated so far?
Since 2006, we have treated 7000 cases for osteoarthritis and about 250-300 cases for cancer.
What are your expansion plans?
We have 4 centers in Bengaluru and one in Mumbai and we are opening one in Pune soon. By next year, we are hoping to have 20 centres india and abroad.
